2015 Prominence Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2015 Prominence Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot. Aged in 100% new French oak for 22 months, this Cabernet Sauvignon is a selection of exquisite barrels from our Pritchard Hill block in Stagecoach Vineyard. 100% of this fruit comes from Stagecoach Vineyard. This wine offers up the power of Prichard Hill, showing dark black cherry and cassis aromas, blanketed with spice and nutty notes. Full-bodied, this wine shows a veil of tannin layered on the juicy blackberry flavors. A fresh finish keeps this wine clean and tantalizing your palate. This wine has great aging potential and will reward by waiting 4 to 5 years.
92 Points - The Wine Advocate - Containing a 3% spalash of Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Prominence has acreme de cassis, espresso and Christmas cake nose with touches of forest floor, cigar box and stewed tea. The spicy, medium to full-bodied palate offers loads of berry preserves flavors, with chewy, well-played tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy.
92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck - A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot all from the Stagecoach Vineyard, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Prominence is more elegant and layered, with very pretty notes of cassis, black raspberries, vanilla bean and dried flowers. Elegant, medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, and impeccably made, it should drink nicely for 15-20 years.
Bud break for 2015 arrived a few weeks earlier than usual, and the growing season stayed ahead of normal throughout the entire season. An unusually cool period hit Napa Valley around flowering time, and Stagecoach Vineyard was hit hard. While the quality of the fruit was unaffected, the quantity was down drastically. As the fruit started to mature, it was obvious that there would be about 50% of the normal crop. The rest of harvest was rewarded with beautiful weather, leading to a harvest date on October 5th.
