2017 Bliss Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc

Winemaker Notes

The 2017 Bliss Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc is sourced completely from a single vineyard in the heart of Rutherford. This wine is a blend of 93% Sauvignon Blanc with 7% Semillon. Aged on partial lees and stirred regularly, this wine has picked up a fuller mid-palate which shows melon and tropical notes. Plenty of racy acidity shows through on the finish, leaving your palate clean while tantalizing your taste buds.

Harvest Notes

The winter of 2016-2017 finally showed some relief from the four straight years of drought seen in California. With a wetter than normal winter, the growing season started closer to normal, with flowering occurring the last week of May. The summer was dry and sunny leading to a night harvest on September 1st. The Bliss Sauvignon Blanc comes from a single block off Dalla Gasperina Vineyard in the heart of Rutherford. Picking well before the fires that ravaged Napa Valley in mid-October, this fruit was allowed to reach full maturity at a natural pace.
